it's fine. knowing how hard rest is to come by for thorns, he only glances over at his friend and assumes he was more tired than he let on. gently, he brushes a few stray strands from his face and out of his mouth, then lets his own eyes fall shut again.
he probably won't drift back to sleep anytime soon, but there us something therapeutic about just lying there and listening to the steady sound of him breathing—as if things will genuinely be okay. he hopes so. it's lonely, having to be the only one to move on, but if he can fall in love once—he can fall in love again.

that's fine, thorns continues to snooze. if anything, he just ends up moving even closer to elysium, his body just instinctively seeking him out in bed. funny, how even time and distance doesn't break small habits that form. ]
like how he's back to thinking about how incredibly lonely thorns must be to subconsciously seek out intimacy. he's about to tuck him closer when he stops midway, wondering… if he is enabling rebounding? could he be a rebound? he is also
a white-feathered liberi… and so many of his crewmates had mistaken him as this supposed lover. this line of thought causes him to freeze before he just grits his teeth and goes for it anyway. this is not time to think ill about his friend? nor is it the time to push him away!!!
elysium pulls him in so close his chin rests on his head. he ends up thinking about this so much he tired himself enough to fall asleep again. good god. ]
the next morning, thorns is kind of confused about what his position is until he remembers that elysium came to visit. that doesn't quite explain why they are platonically spooning, but like. once again they did technically do that before they started a relationship together back in purgatory. perhaps they are just meant to touch each other (non-romantically).
if he was good, he'd dislodge himself. instead he just stays there, breathing him in like a creep. ]
