but he will direct his attention back to their new friend. it is actually not that difficult to get him to talk as he seems to value his life over secrecy. but he does reveal that his group was paid to watch over this area and to attack anyone passing through. he doesn't have much information on the ones who hired them, other than they seem like they have a lot of funds as the pay was higher than typical mercenary work, and that they asked for them to cause as minimal damage to bodies as they can manage.
but he seems to not offer much else... he is definitely not the leader of the group. ]
well now that he's actively dying(?) he is no longer covering the stab wound to his gut. they really are never getting their wedding or beach honeymoon, at this rate. ]
the problem is thorns doesn't want to just sit down immediately since the others might still be nearby. so when he reaches docybara, he immediately unties him so they can start moving. ]

thorns will now try to move with elysium while also tugging the doctor along. hellish. maybe they really should have gotten him a girlfriend, then he'd be distracted.
at the very least, he can use the corazonix to help keep watch in case someone tries to attack them... he is wondering if he should be insane and start doing that 24/7 (ignores that he needs to sleep). ]

but he stops walking once elysium stirs, setting him down. at this point he's been bandaged, although not as well as thorns would like; the wound hasn't been treated as thoroughly as it should, but thorns is really trying to get some distance. ]
[ he's more than a little unstable on his feet, teetering back and forth until he fully rests his hand and forehead on thorns' shoulder. how is this going south so quickly? should they go back? go back where?
they haven't even done a tenth of what they've wanted to get through—this isn't right. ]
I think the weapon might've been laced with something. There's no way I should be this affected…

[ he has no reason not to follow along, even if his movements are a little clumsy. he'll still seek thorns' to lean against though, finding it difficult to remain upright without some kind of support. ]

It looks like they were stabbed, and then either fell or were thrown down there. Some also had what appeared like... odd blisters, but I didn't have time to properly look at those. Their deaths were relatively recent, likely just overnight.
[ so if they hadn't taken a break to sleep when they did then they might have stumbled onto it while it was occurring. ]

… We can aim for a town with low to no Rhodes presence. We don't know how our profiles are flagged, but knowing the captain… she's really soft-hearted. If they'd been serious about finding us, we wouldn't have had such an easy time so far. We can try leveraging favours if it comes to it, then figuring out our move from there.
That's if things take a turn for the worse. I'm sure I'll be fine.
