it's strange—almost disorienting—to think about how many things they'd planned to do, all those promises they'd sworn they'd sooner die than leave unfulfilled. but that only proves how much this still matters to them, when now they're still slowly gravitating back toward the pieces of their old lives that still feel safe to hold. ]
